Family Caregiver Support Group
July 6, 2021 @ 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm CDT
Caring for a loved one is nearly a full-time job, and many family caregivers do not take the time to care for themselves, which can result in compassion fatigue or burnout. Katie Monahan Brooks, from Transitions Hospice, will discuss the difference between compassion fatigue and burnout, define self-care for the family caregiver and identify self-care and mindfulness strategies to promote well-being.
The Family Caregiver Support Group is offered in partnership with NeuroBalance Center. The group offers education and support for families of people with a chronic illness such as Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, stroke, Alzheimer’s and related dementias, arthritis, cancer, COPD, diabetes, and heart disease.
Pam Pellizzari, Bacoa’s memory programs director and Molly Ross, assistant director of operations for NeuroBalance Center, co-facilitate the group. Registration is required; please call Molly Ross at (847) 800-6162.
