Culinary Arts and Hospitality Institute of Elgin Trip
Thursday, March 22; 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
Cost: $9 plus meal costs
BACOA and the Barrington Park District will cosponsor a trip for lunch in the Spartan Terrace Dining Room at the Culinary Arts and Hospitality Institute of Elgin at Elgin Community College. Students from the institute’s culinary classes will cook and serve the lunch. Attendees will order off a lunch menu; price range for the lunch is $14-18 plus tip.
The group will depart from the Barrington Park District; transportation is by Park District vans. Limited seating is available; registration deadline is March 15. For information, call the Barrington Park District at (847) 381-0687.
North/Northwest Culture Bus
January 11-March 28
Cost: $75 per trip
BACOA is collaborating with of CJE-SeniorLife to offer the North/ Northwest Culture Bus. This unique program offers a series of stimulating day trips designed specifically for people experiencing early memory loss. The Culture Bus, developed and managed by CJE SeniorLife, offers socialization and recreation under the supervision of a trained and experienced professional leader and a group of volunteers.
Six trips are planned for the Winter Season including the Barrington Historical Society, a guided tour at the Lake County Discovery Museum, and a winter ecology program at Heritage Farm in Schaumburg. Trip dates are January 11 and 25, February 8 and 22, March 14 and 28.
The trips leave from Friend Center (on the Weinberg Community for Senior Living Campus of CJE SeniorLife) in Deerfield and also from the Lutheran Church of the Atonement in Barrington. Morning departure is between 9 and 10 a.m. and return is between 3 and 3:30 p.m. A scholarship fund is available to assist with fees for participants who apply and qualify.
